'Peter Pan' cut, 1978

November 7, 1978 - In a top Knightsbridge salon Jane has her long red hair cut short for her lead role on the London stage in the annual classic “Peter Pan.” Following in the tradition of many great actresses who have portrayed the boy who never wants to grow up, Jane opens at the Shaftesbury Theatre for a season of two performances daily starting Dec. 20, 1978 thru the New Year.

Jane loses her crowning glory to a Peter Pan cut – for panto
WHAT a difference a hair style can make. No one knows better than actress Jane Asher who had to sacrifice her crowning glory yesterday in the cause of a Christmas theatre tradition. On the left she gives her tresses a last comb before being given the Peter Pan cut on the right. Jane is to play Peter, the little boy who would not grow up, in the production of J. M. Barrie’s classic opening at the Shaftsbury Theatre, London, on December 20.
