Joy to the World, 1990

December 18th, 1990 - "Joy to the World". TV presenter Sarah Greene introduced a celebration of Christmas in the Victorian style, held at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in the presence of HRH the Princess Margaret. Artists appearing included Jane Asher, Peter Bowles, David Copperfield, Suzi Quatro, Leo Sayer, singers and dancers from Poland and Lithuania, the London Oriana Choir, English Baroque Choir, English Baroque Orchestra and London Brass, conducted by Leon Lovett, among others, Pipes and Drums of the Second Battalion Scots Guards and Massed Fanfare and Trumpeters of the Household Division (Director of Music: Lt Col P Hannam).
The event was devised and produced by Major Michael Parker, and  it was televised on BBC1 on Sunday, December 23rd at 1.00pm. The television presentation was carried by Simon Betts and the Concert was organised in aid of Save the Children and the NSPCC by the Westminster Christmas Appeal Trust in association with Vauxhall.
